Athlete Development Program

A personalised, high-performance sports program designed to help students excel both academically and in their chosen sport.

This program is specifically tailored for Senior School student-athletes who have reached a certain talent level in their sport. It is dedicated to empowering them to realise their full potential while managing the demands of high-performance sports

Led by accredited staff with elite sports experience, the program builds proficiency and confidence through evidence-based training principles that support optimal performance. Additionally, students receive specialised education on sports health and well-being practices from industry experts, ensuring they are fully prepared for the challenges of their sport.

The program is structured around four core focus areas, with students engaging in each area every term:

Athletic Development: Providing students with long-term training tools to consistently perform at a high level and maximise their athletic potential.

Physical Loading: Helping students and their families balance training, school, and life commitments to reduce stress and enhance performance.

Sports Mentoring: Assisting students with goal-setting plans and educating them with the process requirements in achieving ambitious goals.

Role Modelling: Connecting students with elite sportswomen who share real-life experiences of talent pathway opportunities and international competition.

Since its inception in 2022, the Athlete Development Program has experienced significant growth, with participant numbers rising from 28 to 50 students and the range of supported sports expanding from 9 to 15 disciplines. Our personalised approach to program delivery ensures that participants achieve well-considered performance benefits in each of the sports they engage in.

The program is delivered through a variety of methods, including:

High-Performance Training Camps: Held quarterly, these camps feature educational seminars, workshops, and guest speaker appearances.

Strength and Conditioning Sessions: Conducted multiple times per week with sport-specific programming led by fully accredited coaches.

Individual Mentoring Sessions: Regular check-ins to review athlete goals and ensure load management schedules are up-to-date based on seasonal commitments.

Athletic Movement Screening Opportunities: Held quarterly to assess athletic ability and provide exposure to performance testing elements.

Academic Support Considerations: Offered to select participants who meet specific criteria, allowing them to achieve both academic and sporting goals through timetable allowances.
