Perth College Unveils New Multi-Purpose Building, Honouring a Legacy

We are delighted to announce the opening of our newly built School building. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to support our students as they transition from Founders into Senior School, offering a dynamic and flexible space for both learning and collaborative activities.

The journey to this point has been one of careful planning and collaboration. Initially envisioned as a renovation of our existing Junior School building, it became evident that a new build would better serve the long-term needs of our students. The decision to shift the building southward allowed us to introduce a specialised under-croft level for classrooms and to preserve the cherished play space on the northern side, adjacent to the Theatre.

We are grateful to our architect, Michael from Brown Falconer, for his vision and dedication. His meticulous design process, combined with the expertise of our builders, McCorkell’s, has resulted in a building that exceeds our program requirements. We would also like to extend our thanks to the City of Stirling for their cooperation and support throughout the planning and approval process.

We are especially honoured to announce the name of this building, a tribute to a remarkable woman who dedicated much of her life to Perth College and the Junior School. She was a student here from 1916 to 1928, a teacher from 1934 to 1979, and served as the Junior School Headmistress from 1967 and again from 1972 to 1979. Her commitment to Perth College spanned 77 of her 84 years.

Her contributions to the school’s heritage and drama programs are just a few examples of her lasting impact. Described by her former students and colleagues as impeccably dressed, calm, and fair, she was a respected and adored figure within the Perth College community. It is fitting that we honour her legacy by naming our new building after her, the Ikey Broadfoot Building.

We look forward to sharing this beautiful new space with our students and the wider Perth College community.
