sparc

sparc is a groundbreaking Perth College initiative designed to prepare our students for the future with a unique, future-focused framework. It equips students with the knowledge, skills, attributes, and values necessary to thrive both now and in the future.

What is sparc?

sparc is built around experiences that

  • Spark Passion
  • Grow Attributes
  • Build Relationships to Contribute to the world.

Through SPARC, every Perth College student will engage in meaningful experiences focused on

  • Entrepreneurship, enterprise, and careers.
  • Leadership and citizenship.

These experiences are grounded in the School’s positive education philosophy and aligned with our strategic intent, Learning and Teaching Statement, and school values. SPARC is integrated into the timetable for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 9.

Formative Learning Approach

The assessment in sparc is formative, driven by students with the support of their mentors. While students will not receive a formal grade, they will

  • reflect on their learning journey
  • create and collect evidence of their growth
  • use their experiences to further their personal development.

We encourage parents to engage in conversations with their daughters about the SPARC experiences they have completed.

Year-Level Themes

At every stage of development, sparc offers opportunities to grow and explore. The program’s core values of Capable, Courageous, and Caring are embedded in each experience. Each year group participates in unique experiences that align with pastoral care themes, helping students grow and develop in key areas.

  • Pre-Kindergarten & Pre-Primary: Discovering Identity
  • Years 1 & 2: Exploring Belonging
  • Years 3 & 4: Building Relationships
  • Years 5 & 6: Leading the Way
  • Year 7: Making Connections
  • Year 8: Building Strength
  • Year 9: Choosing Courage

sparc provides students with opportunities beyond the curriculum to:

  • Cultivate curiosity, imagination, resilience, and self-regulation
  • Respect and appreciate diverse perspectives and values
  • Cope with failure and rejection
  • Move forward in the face of adversity
  • Care for the wellbeing of their friends and families
  • Preparing for the Future

We recognise the need to prepare students for a future world where jobs, technologies, and challenges have yet to be imagined. sparc aims to empower students with the tools to flourish in this ever-evolving landscape.

Our goal is to inspire joy in learning, every day. All our academic and co-curricular programs are created specifically for girls, in an environment that nurtures confidence and determination.
