We support our students by instilling a sense of responsibility and independence. Through structured daily routines and opportunities for personal growth, we equip boarders with valuable life skills that extend far beyond their time at Perth College.
The Boarding Academic Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating the team of tutors, monitoring students’ academic progress, and acting as the main point of contact for parents, students, and staff. They ensure that every student receives the individual academic support they need.
Our in-house catering team, in partnership with Chartwells, provides a nutritious and varied menu catering to all dietary needs. Dinner is served flexibly between 5:15 pm and 7:00 pm, allowing students to dine at a time that suits their personal schedules. Weekly formal dinners bring the entire boarding community together, fostering a sense of belonging and reflection on the week’s activities
We have a comprehensive Transition Program – PC Head Start to help new boarders settle in smoothly. This program includes tours, introductions to boarding staff, and fun activities that allow students to make friends and feel comfortable. New boarders and their mentors arrive a day before the rest of the school, providing extra time for settling in.
Each new boarder is paired with a Year 11 mentor. These mentors undergo leadership training and connect with new boarders before the school year starts. They act as friendly guides, helping new students adjust to boarding life and ensuring they have a familiar face to turn to.
Our experienced staff, mentors, and pastoral care team are well-equipped to support students experiencing homesickness, which is a natural part of the transition to boarding school. With our warm and caring environment, students quickly feel at home.
Academic success is a key focus at Perth College. Boarders participate in structured study periods supervised by our Boarding Academic Coordinator and tutors. Tutoring is available from Monday to Thursday for all year groups, ensuring students receive tailored support. Boarders also have access to state-of-the-art learning facilities and digital tools.
We believe in a balanced lifestyle, so our co-curricular program is integral to the boarding experience. Boarders are encouraged to participate in sports, music, drama, and other activities. Our Club and Community Transport Program ensures students have a safe and reliable way to travel to off-campus activities.
Our boarding house is designed for comfort and community. The girls live in one of three houses—Rosalie, Karina, and Emily—each fostering a family-like atmosphere where older students mentor younger ones. Years 7 and 8 students share rooms to encourage socialisation, while Years 9 and above enjoy private rooms. The facilities include modern, well-appointed rooms, common areas, and dining spaces.
Perth College is home to over 100 boarders from across Western Australia and internationally. We currently have students from areas as far north as Kununurra, south to Albany, east to Kalgoorlie, and international boarders from China, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Some day students also choose to board for the structure and sense of community it offers.
Perth College takes a holistic approach to education, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing and pastoral care. Our small student-to-staff ratios, regular house meetings, and dedicated Heads of Year ensure each girl receives individualised support to help her navigate the challenges of adolescence and boarding life.
We maintain strong communication with parents, keeping them informed of their daughter’s progress and wellbeing. Our online portal (SPACE) provides regular updates, photos, and information, helping parents stay connected with their daughter’s journey.
A typical day starts with a healthy breakfast, followed by school, co-curricular activities, and study sessions. Dinner is a communal experience, with time set aside for relaxation and study in the evening. Weekends offer a variety of recreational activities such as beach trips, movie nights, and community service, keeping boarders engaged and social.
Our support doesn’t end after the first few weeks. New boarders receive continued support throughout the year from staff and mentors. House meetings provide a space for discussion and celebration, and our team is always available to offer guidance and support when needed.
