The Perth College Swim Squad program is designed for students who are ready to elevate their swimming skills, technique, and fitness to the next level. Running year-round, the program offers three squad levels, helping your child achieve their personal best while exploring competitive swimming opportunities beyond just inter-school carnivals. The program is open to both girls and boys from other schools in the area, with sessions held at the Perth College swimming pool in summer and at Chisholm College swimming pool in winter.

The Squads are divided into three levels – Fundamental, Development, and Advanced – and come together at the end of each term for a ‘time-trial’ event to measure progress and allow swimmers to achieve personal bests. The outline for each squad program can be found below.

This squad is designed for emerging swimmers who have graduated from our Learn to Swim program and are eager to advance their skills. Swimmers will train in an introductory squad environment focused on refining technique, enhancing fitness, and developing proficiency in all four strokes. The emphasis is on perfecting stroke mechanics through engaging drills and skill-building activities within a supportive and dynamic atmosphere.

Up to four sessions are offered per week.

This squad is the next development step after the Fundamental Squad, tailored for both Junior and Senior School swimmers looking to build on their strong training foundation and experiences with squad swimming. The focus remains on refining competitive techniques, with the option to concentrate on specific strokes as needed. Our coaching staff mentor and empower swimmers through weekly training sessions, enhancing their knowledge and capacity to improve performance.

Up to five sessions are offered per week

This squad is tailored for swimmers committed to perfecting their preferred techniques while building endurance and speed, with a focus on competitive success. Whether preparing for upcoming carnivals, aquatic sports like surf swimming and triathlons, or open water events, this versatile squad program is designed to complement individual needs and elevate overall performance. Our coaching staff can also guide swimmers toward affiliated club programs if that’s the next step in their development and swimming journey.

Up to five sessions are offered per week.

To join one of these squads, swimmers must successfully complete all stages of the Learn to Swim program (including the Mini Squad ‘extension level’) or undergo a formal assessment by our Swim Squad Coordinator.
