Community Sport Pathway

Connecting our students with local community sporting clubs and experiences.

This commitment helps our students build friendships beyond the school environment and provides them with a pathway for long-term engagement in sports.

Perth College’s Community Sport Pathway encourages year-round participation and growth through various sporting programs. Our focus is on fundamental skill development and game understanding of sports while ensuring students enjoy a wide range of competitive and non-competitive experiences that are now available to them. Most of our sporting activities are delivered on-site at Perth College, making participation more convenient and accessible for our families.

The sporting and fitness programs listed below highlight the diverse range of offerings available to students from Pre-Primary to Year 12, with additional partnerships in place to support individual interests in other sports.

Junior Multisport Program

The Junior School Multisport Program provides students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 with the opportunity to participate in weekly co-curricular sessions focused on developing their fundamental movement skills and understanding of various sports. These sessions, held before and after school, are organised into two age groups: Pre-Primary to Year 2, and Year 3 to Year 6.

Led by Gecko Sports staff, who are nationally recognised specialists in Junior School sports coaching, the program ensures that students receive high-quality instruction and development. Additionally, we invite local sporting clubs to engage with our training groups, helping families become aware of the external sporting opportunities available beyond Perth College each term.

The sports included in this program are:

  • Term One: AFLW and Soccer
  • Term Two: Basketball
  • Term Three: Tennis
  • Term Four: Hockey and Cricket

Perth College Netball Academy

The Perth College Netball Academy (PCNA) is one of the largest school-based netball clubs in Western Australia, offering students from Years 2 to 12 the chance to learn new skills and build friendships across different age groups.

Students train on-site before or after school and compete in the winter season at the Matthews Netball Centre during Terms Two and Three. PCNA provides a competitive, fun, and exciting team environment where students can proudly represent Perth College.

As they progress in the program, students are also encouraged to take on roles as umpires and coaches, with ongoing support from our Junior School and Senior School PCNA Coordinators. Through our affiliation with the Balcatta Cats Volleyball Club, Year 7 to Year 12 students have the opportunity to pursue their passion for volleyball within a supportive club environment. Training sessions are held after school at Perth College, with weekly fixtures taking place during Terms Two and Three at various locations across Perth.

This competition not only helps students refine their skills and deepen their game understanding by also fosters friendships within the sport, serving as a natural extension of our IGSSA Volleyball program.

Fitness Club

The Perth College Fitness Club program offers a fun and friendly environment for students to enhance their fitness levels every term, focusing on both aerobic conditioning and overall strength improvement. Led by our fully qualified coaches, the program features weekly training sessions tailored to accommodate various fitness levels and abilities. Parents are also encouraged to join in these sessions, fostering positive role modelling towards fitness and strengthening connections with their daughters.

The program’s structure focuses on ‘running training’ during Terms One and Four, transitioning to ‘circuit-based strength training’ in Terms Two and Three. The Perth College Fitness Club program is well supported and led by the Perth Running Club and Athlete Alliance staff.

Perth College Swimming

Perth College offers an on-site swimming service with various participation options for our students. We strongly believe that learning to swim and building confidence in the water are essential skills for all children. That’s why we provide two comprehensive swimming programs for our community: the Learn to Swim Program and the Swim Squad Program.

Both swimming programs are led by full-time Perth College staff members, our Learn to Swim Coordinator and our Swim Squad Coordinator, who ensure high-quality instruction and support for all families year-round.
