Djook Djinda Group

Fostering an inclusive community for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students

At Perth College, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment that supports the academic and personal growth of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The Djook Djinda Group

We nurture and support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through our Djook Djinda Group, named after the Noongar phrase “Sister Stars.” This name reflects the close-knit and supportive nature of the group, emphasising unity and mutual support.

Being a member of the Djook Djinda Group means more than just attending school; it means having a home away from home where cultural traditions are respected and celebrated.

On campus we have the Ngala Maya room, which translates to “Our Place” in Noongar. This dedicated space serves as a hub for cultural exchange, where students can participate in traditional activities and engage in discussions that reinforce their cultural identity. This environment helps build strong friendships and a sense of belonging, contributing to a supportive and enriching school experience.

Investing in the Future

Perth College is committed to making high-quality education accessible to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through our partnership with MADALAH.

MADALAH, is a not-for-profit organisation that provides scholarships to Indigenous students to attend leading schools and universities across Australia. These scholarships are aimed at students from remote and regional areas, ensuring they can receive an education that might otherwise be out of reach.
